ISGC Member’s Meeting (Pictures at bottom of page) August 16, 2008 Location: APS
STAMPSHOW Member’s Present: Phil Bruno Gabriel Ramirez Jonathan Topper William Cornwell, Jr. Giana Wayman Michael Barie Guests: Louise Graves Joanie Bruno Jim Allsop Meeting Minutes Michael Barie was the host for the meeting. He brought
examples of the El Quetzal periodical, and other ISGC Philatelic Literature for
a display in the front of the room. 1. The ISGC is in good financial shape. The society has not raised dues for some time now. 2. ISGC to meet at SESCAL in October. 3. We are fortunate to have such an excellent editor of the El Quetzal; Cecile Gruson. Everyone was encouraged to provide articles and other information to help Cecile put together the journal. 4. Library is now with Eric Dyck. It was transferred from Michael Barie’s residence. This was a huge effort on Eric’s part and we want to recognize his diligence in getting this done. 5. Auctions will be discussed at the next board meeting. Perhaps we need software to keep better track of the bids and the status of lots? 6. Jorge Baca was recognized for his efforts to print the El Quetzal on time, and get it posted for all the members. One Quetzal is now worth approximately 12.5 US cents. 7. The DVD Eric Dyck put together on the historical issues of the El Quetzal was mentioned. It is very useful to find obscure information using search terms. If you have not purchased a copy, you should do so to help you with any research you may need. 8. A copy of The Postal Markings of Guatemala was also on
display. Sales have been good, including the updated pages. Awards Jonathan Topper discussed the possibility for an ISGC award
for exhibiting. Sample letters and pictures of the awards were shown. Guatemala New Issues Gabriel Rameriz mentioned the long process to approve the
design and finally get the stamps printed in Guatemala. Private companies are
now running part of the postal system in the country. Guatemala Exhibits at the Stampshow Open Competition – Gold Award Guatemala:
